ECHO - Early Childhood Health Outdoors

ECHO is a collaborative effort between Nebraska Extension and National Wildlife Federation.  We work with community partners across Nebraska and the region to enhance nature play and learning wherever young children spend their time.

Outdoor Play Settings

We facilitate the creation of nature-based outdoor play settings; provide support and resources for educators, caregivers and families to activate these spaces; and advocate for policies to transform outdoor play and learning best practice into common practice.

ECHO Process

The ECHO Process, can be summed up in three main pillars: Design, Professional Development, and Community Engagement. Design and professional development overlap and occur simultaneously, with community engagement being present every step along the way. Simply put, engaging with communities is how we design and teach, and this engagement is threaded throughout the entire process.
