| Childcare Professionals |
1,000 childcare providers were educated by University of Nebraska-Lincoln Douglas/ Sarpy Extension in 2007. This education helps teach providers how to develop an environment where children can flourish.

ServSafe |
Over 200 restaurant managers have been educated by Douglas/Sarpy Extension about food safety. This education means approximately 1,812,000 people are being served food that is safe each year. To date, no restaurant with staff taught by Douglas/Sarpy Extension has had a food-borne illness outbreak.

Yard and Garden Assistance |
Douglas/Sarpy Master Gardeners contributed 10,125 hours of volunteer time to the community answering those questions and conducting workshops (over 14,000 contacts!). The volunteers also tended the HOPE Garden (Helping Omaha People Eat), providing 7,000 pounds of vegetables to area food banks.

| 4-H in the Schools |
24,300 youth participated in school enrichment programs including environmental programs, science spectaculars, embryology, bug days, and healthy lifestyles programs at schools, after school programs and on military bases. 4-H clubs flourish in cities and small towns aided by 1,047 volunteers.

NEP is now SNAP! |
Still offering the same great nutritional information, but with a different name, SNAP! In 2008 the Nutrition Education Program in Douglas/Sarpy Counties taught 1,500 limited-resource adult clients and 2,700 youth to make better nutrition choices. Over 70% report improved practices in meal planning, budgeting food dollars, reading nutrition labels, and choosing healthier snacks.

Educating Professionals |
400 professionals who apply pesticides and fertilizers have taken classes from Douglas/ Sarpy Extension. Professionals who have the know how to properly apply chemicals protect not only the environment, but create a better living space for you, your family and your pets..

Lead Education |
Lead Education Douglas/Sarpy Extension partners with area organizations (Douglas County Health Department, City of Omaha, and The Environmental Protection Agency) to create the Omaha Healthy Kids Alliance. This alliance focuses on combating lead poisoning. Over 350 real estate professionals and 540 painters/remodelers have been trained in the hazards of lead paint and soil, and given information to use and share with their clients.
