Proper Hand Washing

While it may appear fundamental, many people fail to wash their hands properly and as often as needed. To ensure proper hand washing, use the following steps:

  1. Wet your hands with hot running water. The water should be as hot as the hands can comfortably stand. 2
  2. Apply soap. Apply enough soap to build up a good lather.
  3. Rub hands together for at least 20 seconds. Lather well beyond the wrists.
  4. Clean under fingernails and between fingers.
  5. Rinse hands thoroughly under running water. Turn off the faucet with a sanitary single use paper towel.
  6. Dry hands. Use a single use paper towel.
