Am I Physically Fit?

Everyday there are new research findings that tell us to weigh less, exercise more, decrease our blood pressure, and eat healthier. Don't eat this today-but tomorrow it will be all right. How does a consumer decide what they should believe?

Start by taking every research study with a grain of salt. Was the study done with a large amount of people-or only a few? Was it just one study done, or many studies with the same outcome? If the recommendations concern you, do a little research. For years, saccharin was labeled with the phrase "this product may cause cancer in lab animals." After 30 years, the warning was taken off, because research found that it would take a dump truck load of saccharin eaten every day to possibly cause any problems in humans!

Do not change the way you do things based on one study. Moderation is the answer. Too much of even a great food can be harmful. Eating only oranges every day will deny your body of other nutrients that can be derived from eating a balanced diet. Eating a balanced diet, and exercising is the best prescription for a long and healthy life!
