Healthy Eating, Healthy You!

March is National Nutrition Month©. This year's theme is Healthy Eating, Healthy You! The American Dietetic Association sponsors this campaign to encourage people to choose healthy alternatives when eating. Exercise is also an important component for a healthy lifestyle.

Celebrate this event by incorporating color into your meals. The more colorful the meal, the more nutritious it is. For example, deep oranges, greens, reds, and yellows usually mean foods high in vitamins and minerals. Broccoli, spinach, carrots, tomatoes, peppers, oranges, etc., all contain vitamins and minerals that we need to maintain a healthy body. Try to add at least one item with deep colors to your meals everyday.

March brings with it warmer temperatures, so now you can shake the winter blahs, and head outdoors for a little exercise. Exercise has been proven to enhance your mood, and help your body stay fit. Something as simple as walking can increase your physical fitness-and that of your families. So take a walk today with family and friends. Take the dog with you-fly a kite-just enjoy the exercise and the great company!
