The UNL Extension in Douglas/Sarpy 4-H program is open to any youth ages 5-18, and has something for everyone! The 4-H experience goes far deeper than what is seen on the surface, teaching skills that last a lifetime. Youth learn critical thinking skills, problem solving, and respect through projects. Projects also place an emphasis on making healthy lifestyle choices and hands-on activities that assist with career preparation.
Traditionally, 4-H has a reputation, cattle, sheep, and farm kids, but in it’s over 100 year existence, the program has transformed to encompass so much more! In the Douglas/Sarpy 4-H program, over 1,000 youth enjoy activities ranging from scavenger hunts with GPS Locators, to money management activities to shooting off rockets, while traditional projects such as cooking, sewing, and livestock remain favorites.

On-line 4-H Horticulture Contest. - take quiz - This contest will open on Saturday, June 13th at 12:01 am and will close on June 27th at 11:59 pm. In addition to 4-H participants, Extension faculty/staff, and 4-H leaders are welcome to try it.

4-H in the Classroom - can help your students develop skills and knowledge to meet the Nebraska State Board of Education Standards in Science, Social Studies and Reading/Writing.
What is 4-H?
4-H is an informal, practical, learn-bydoing educational program for urban and rural youth. 4-H is designed to provide age appropriate opportunities for youth between the ages of 5-8 (Clover Kids) and 8-18 (traditional Members).
What is a 4-H Club?
4-H clubs are groups of 4-H members with similar interests. 4-H clubs hold meetings to help members learn more about their projects and to experience group unity through club projects and community service.
What is a 4-H Clover Kid? Clover Kids participate in noncompetitive 4-H. They must be five years of age and not older than eight years of age by January 1 of the current year.

• Supplies needed for projects * registration fee includes one project manual (up to $5 in value) and qualifies the 4-H’er to exhibit at the Sarpy County Fair
